Understanding Postural Issues
Postural issues occur when the body’s structural alignment deviates from its natural center of gravity. This is often the result of prolonged habits, such as slouching at a desk, repetitive movements, or old injuries that have forced the body to adopt a defensive or compensatory stance. When the spine is out of alignment, certain muscles become chronically tight and overworked, while others become weak and inactive, leading to a cycle of fatigue, stiffness, and joint strain.
Left unaddressed, poor posture does more than affect your appearance; it changes the mechanical load on your spine, which can lead to premature joint degeneration and restricted breathing patterns. Our goal is to identify the root of these postural shifts and retrain your body to support itself effortlessly.
Our clinical approach to correcting posture involves a blend of structural and functional therapies. We use different types of spinal adjusting techniques including traditional manual or Diversified Technique, Activator Methods, no and low force techniques like Sacro-Occipital Technique.
Since posture is heavily influenced by the soft tissues, we apply manual therapy to release the muscle tension that pulls the body out of alignment. We then bridge the gap to long-term change with targeted rehab exercises designed to strengthen the deep postural stabilizers. This integrated process doesn't just "straighten" the spine; it restores the neurological awareness and muscular strength needed to maintain a healthy, upright posture in your everyday life.
